One of my favorite sayings is, “No one ever complained that something was too easy to read.” It’s a continual reminder for me when I’m writing for business, or personally, to keep things as simple as possible, not to use big words when small words would do because I want to make sure that the person who’s reading it has an easy time understanding what I’m trying to say.
In a world where we are often firing off texts and email messages quickly, it’s also a good reminder to slow down a little bit to make sure that the quality of what we’re trying to say is coming through as easily as possible.
