Barnes and Noble had opened a new bookstore in Center City, Philadelphia and it’s part of a plan to open 30 new bookstores.
The interesting thing about the design of this store, and the company’s new direction, is to focus more on book things that are important to people in the local areas, where the bookstores are located and more staff that is knowledgeable about books for people to talk with, and a little more autonomy for local managers.
These bookstores will not have coffee, but will have books, writing materials, and vinyl records. It is good to know in a world that seems increasingly digital that for a lot of folks, they’re getting increasingly back to basics like good old-fashioned books at the very same time.
