When the final scene of the iconic series The Sopranos ended, viewers were left with a dark screen, the sound of a ringing bell over a diner door, and not much else. And that gap of information which was of course intentional by the creators, caused all kinds of frustration, but also fun while viewers tried to figure out what happened right after that.
There is no information of course, and in life, in contrast, when there’s no information available about something that we’ve invested in a relationship, or a work situation, or anything else, it can be quite frustrating and not so much fun.
And I have a solution for that!
There is a tendency we all have, of course, to fill in gaps with something you know some information. Sometimes it’s our worst fear, sometimes we’re more optimistic about it, but we can expand and possibly waste a lot of energy spinning our wheels trying to figure something out where there’s simply no information there to have.
My suggestion to you is to consider the possibility that there are some things in life that we’re simply not going to find solutions or answers for, to consider taking that energy and using it for something that is far more productive and actually brings us some kind of benefit or reward instead.
