One of my favorite quotations from Stephen Covey is a question: “Have you ever been so busy driving you didn’t have time to stop for gas?”
For a lot of people in today’s busy world, it can feel like we’re never taking time to re-energize, but a lot of evidence and research suggests that taking even brief breaks regularly during the day can help re-energize and help keep you focused and less stressed.
Here are three things that you can do to refuel during the day. The first is standing up and taking a quick walk. Even a few minutes of walking can help re-energize you.
The second is diaphragmatic breathing or deep breathing. The evidence is quite robust that even three to four focused deep breaths can help to calm the system down and help you re-energize and refocus.
And the third is listening to music. I have a radio back there, old-fashioned looking, but it’s actually bluetooth enabled and listening to music, even during the day, but particularly if I just want to take a quick break, is a great way to do that. I hope these tips have been helpful for you to find quick ways that you can refuel.
